Towing Policy
Parking on campus is a privilege that helps ensure accessibility, safety, and efficient use of limited space. As part of LSU’s continued effort to support a safe and well-managed campus environment, enforcement measures will now include vehicle towing for specific parking violations.
Towing services will be handled by an authorized third-party contractor:

Reasons a Vehicle May Be Towed
To ensure safety, access, and compliance, towing may occur under the following circumstances:
Safety & Access Violations:
- Blocking fire lanes, emergency routes, loading zones, dumpsters or building access points
- Parking in ADA-designated spaces without a valid state-issued placard or permit
- Obstructing traffic flow or parked in a manner that poses a safety concern
Unauthorized Parking Locations:
- Parked outside designated permit zones
- Use of reserved or event spaces without proper authorization
Parking on Lawn/Grass:
- Vehicles found parked on grassy areas or unpaved surfaces are subject to immediate towing
Abandoned or Unauthorized Vehicles:
- Parking of motor homes, trailers or boats overnight without prior written approval from Parking & Transportation Services is prohibited. These vehicles may be towed at the owner’s expense.
- Vehicles that appear inoperable, lack valid license plates or remain parked in the same location for an extended period without authorization may also be towed without notice.
Additional Information
LSU reserves the right to tow any vehicle at any time in accordance with university policies.
All towing and storage costs are the responsibility of the vehicle owner.
