University Faculty Awards
LSU takes great pride in its world-class faculty. The University Faculty Awards recognize faculty accomplishments and showcase superb teaching, research, and service at LSU. A call for nominations is sent during the fall semester and awards are celebrated in the spring semester.
2023 University Faculty Awards Call for Nominations:
Each year the university recognizes and rewards the outstanding work of its faculty. The
Office of Academic Affairs is also pleased to announce the call for nominations for
the following awards:
LSU Distinguished Faculty Award
LSU Alumni Association Faculty Excellence Award
LSU Foundation Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award
LSU Alumni Association Rising Faculty Research Award
Brij Mohan Distinguished Professor Award
H.M. “Hub” Cotton Award for Faculty Excellence
George Deer Distinguished Teaching Award
Outstanding Service-learning Faculty Award
Communication across the Curriculum Outstanding Faculty Award
Faculty Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Mentoring Award
A faculty member may be nominated for only one of the above-listed awards per year. A listing of award eligibility and supporting documentation requirements is enclosed. Individual faculty members, department heads, or deans may initiate nominations.
The standard Faculty Award Nomination cover sheet must be used, and all materials must be submitted electronically. The final nomination materials for each nominee should be combined into a single PDF file and labeled with the nominee’s last name and name of the award (e.g. “Smith_Alumni Professorship”). Please note that two additional standard forms are required for nominations for the Outstanding Service Learning Faculty Award and those can be found below. Prior to the submission deadline, the individual designated to submit nominations on behalf of the dean should contact the Office of Academic Affairs at firstname.lastname@example.org to be granted access to upload the nominations.

The Call for Nominations takes place in October and nomination packets are due in February of the following year.

LSU Professors have the distinction of being recognized for their contributions to the university through teaching, research, and/or service. Several faculty have earned the prestigious title of being an LSU Boyd Professor. Boyd Professors are the highest, most prestigious distinction awarded.
Phi Kappa Phi Award
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Louisiana State University Chapter Award for Outstanding Instructor is presented to an exemplary educator at the rank of instructor at Louisiana State University.
LSU's distinguished chairs and professors bring to the university a wealth of experience and knowledge. Their reputations are international and their expertise is of unquestionable value in the classroom and research lab.
