President's Address
Greetings All,
First, Happy New Year!! The first month of 2025 is finally coming to a close, and I am sure many of you can relate when I say what an eventful three months it's been! Ringing in a new year, kicking off king cake season, starting a new semester, SNEAUX DAYSSS, and holding on strong to all those resolutions we made a few weeks ago. It's been a very exciting, packed-full, exceptionally long month, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't excited to slow down a bit for February.
Slowing down may be wishful thinking with all the things to look forward to this Spring. Our Appreciation and Events Committee is deep into planning exciting things for my favorite week of the year - Staff Appreciation Week! This year will include some good old favorites like the tailgate at the baseball game with Campus Federal and its fabulous jambalaya, the crawfish boil, a new ice cream social at the AgCenter Dairy Store, and a couple surprises you'll have to be on the lookout for! We will be celebrating the week of April 7 - 11, so save the dates and stay tuned for more info.
In the spirit of Staff Appreciation, one way I need your support is to nominate your peers for the Staff Stripes Award! Anyone that you think is contributing to our institution in an outstanding way, whether it's through excellence in student support, through superior service to staff or faculty, or whatever "outstanding action" means to you, we want to recognize our staff! Please fill out the nomination form. We will distribute awards during Staff Appreciation Week.
As we continue to power through winter and whatever other surprises the coming months have in store for us, I will leave you with a couple of my favorite quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "No work is insignificant. All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence." I thank you all for continuing your work at LSU and in our communities with such painstaking excellence. Every one of you truly impacts the lives around you. And, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?'" Do for one what you wish you could do for everyone. Please take care of yourself and those around you.
Be safe. Be well. Cheers. And Geaux Tigers!
Olivia
