Securing Louisiana’s Future
Lawmakers Make a Record-Setting Investment in LSU
For the second year in a row, the results of the 2023 Legislative Session have exceeded all expectations. The investment in the LSU System for FY2024 will amount to $232 million for LSU campuses across the state.
We had two main goals for this session: talent and tools. First, through the budget, our state invested in talent by funding undergraduate and graduate students and providing support for faculty and staff. They also provided many of the tools we need to teach, attract, and retain our talent across the state. This includes funding for a new $153 million library in Baton Rouge.
Thanks to the vision of our state leaders, we will see half a billion dollars in construction and renovation projects underway on the Baton Rouge campus alone in the next five years.
$232 million invested in LSU statewide for fiscal year 2024, including:
- Talent Recruitment & Investment
- Campus Safety & Security
- Energy Innovation
- Construction projects at LSU campuses across the state

LSU on Tour
LSU's Inaugural Scholarship First Bus Tour
Powered by RoyOMartin, the inaugural Scholarship First bus tour took LSU President William F. Tate IV on a 1,000-mile winding route around Louisiana, with the goal of learning more about some of the state’s key industries, listening to key stakeholders, and visiting with alumni and elected officials to ensure alignment of LSU’s statewide priorities in serving Louisiana.
