Kamille WatsonKamille J Watson, MEd
Director

Kamille J Watson, MEd, serves as the Director of the Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool. She oversees all administrative decisions associated with the day-to-day operations and functions of ECELP. In 2008, Kamille began her work in the early childhood field as a Kindergarten teacher with the Zachary Community School District. During her time in Zachary, she held multiple leadership roles on the school and district level, and she was awarded Teacher of the Year at Northwestern Elementary. In 2016, Kamille joined the staff of the Early Learning Center at First United Methodist Church where she served a dual role position of a PreK Lead Teacher/Curriculum Coordinator before being promoted to Assistant Director/Curriculum Coordinator. Kamille is a graduate from Louisiana State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, and her Reading Specialist Certification. Also, she holds a teaching certificate in PK-3, an Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate, and a Louisiana Pathways trainer certificate.

Laura Sweet, MEd
Assistant Director

Laura Sweet, MEd. serves as the ECELP Assistant Director. She is responsible for the support and coaching of teachers and assists in the day-to-day operation of the ECELP. She has served as a public and private school preschool and elementary teacher and CLASS assessor. She has worked in the field of early childhood since 2018 where she served as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for Livingston Parish Public Schools until joining the ECELP team in February of 2022. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in Kinesiology, Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Early Intervention from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Coaching from LSU. She holds a teaching certificate in PK-3, Elementary Grades 1-5, K-12 Health and P.E., Birth to Kindergarten and Early Intervention. She is also a certified Mentor Teacher and Instructional Coach by the Lousiana Department of Education. Laura hold and Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate and is a certified Pathways trainer, CLASS certified observer – toddler, and preschool, and a Council for Professional Recognition CDA PD Specialist.

Cyndi DiCarloCynthia Fontcuberta DiCarlo, PhD
Executive Director

Cynthia Fontcuberta DiCarlo, PhD, serves as the Executive Director of the Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool and is a Professor and Program Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education Teacher Education Program in the LSU School of Education. Dr. DiCarlo is responsible for the ECELP's engagement with the academic programs within the LSU Early Childhood Education program, as well as other departments within LSU and in the early childhood community. Prior to joining LSU in 2004, she worked as an infant/toddler teacher, public preschool teacher, Early Steps Provider, consultant, trainer, state assessor, and NAEYC validator. She has worked in the field of early childhood since 1993 and holds a teaching certificate in early intervention and Birth to Kindergarten. She has visited the infant/toddler and preschool programs in Reggio Emilia, Italy and surrounding regions, incorporating this knowledge into both the ECELP and the Early Childhood Academic Programs at LSU.
