A recent forecast of the size of the "Dead Zone" in the northern Gulf of Mexico for late July 2022 is that it will cover 5,881 square-miles of the bottom of the continental shelf off Louisiana and Texas.

Samuel Camacho, an LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business senior from Maracaibo, Venezuela, was one of 50 students nationwide to receive the PIMCO Future Leaders Scholarship. In addition to the $20,000 scholarship, Camacho recently joined other recipients at PIMCO’s headquarters in Newport Beach, California.
