LSU Vet Med hosts the 33rd Hill’s Great Rover Road

March 07, 2023

The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine’s Wellness Committee and Hill’s Pet Nutrition are teaming up again this year to host the Hill’s Great Rover Road Run (#HillsGRRR2023), an annual 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk that promotes health and wellness for people and their four-legged friends all while raising money for the LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital's Good Samaritan Fund, which helps homeless animals in need of medical care. This is a fun and exciting event for all involved. Your pets can participate in the race too! All race registrations, proceeds and donations benefit the Good Samaritan Fund. GRRR will take place Sunday, April 16 at 8 a.m. along the levee near LSU Vet Med (corner of Skip Bertman Drive and River Road).

Can’t make it in person? No problem! In-person or virtual attendance is available, both options having a $25 registration fee. Everyone who registers for the in-person race by Thursday, March 16 at 6 p.m. will receive a race shirt! Additionally, the first 60 people who register for the in-person race will also receive a Hill's GRRR goodie bag! Event registration closes at the start of the race.

The LSU Vet Med Good Samaritan Fund provides emergency services, critical care, testing, and ICU for homeless animals. Most of us have had the difficult experience of coming upon a stray animal that is injured or sick. Each year, over 300 such animals needing emergency treatment are brought to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine’s 24-hour emergency facility by Good Samaritans who care deeply for animals in need. The Good Samaritan Fund helps offset the costs incurred caring for these animals. To donate directly to the Good Samaritan Fund, please use the button below and select the Good Samaritan Fund.
