Laboratory/ STI Testing
Medical Laboratory Services
The LSU Student Health Center (SHC) lab is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), which has established Federal quality standards for laboratory testing. The on-site testing is collected and performed by licensed Medical Technologists. Tests that are not performed on-site are sent to a CLIA approved reference laboratory.
Our medical laboratory collects and performs testing on LSU students that is ordered by a SHC provider or an outside provider. There is a charge for lab testing.
STI Testing
Sexually transmitted infection testing is commonly done at the SHC. Please note: In the medical clinic we do not typically test for all STIs on a visit. If you have a specific set of symptoms or a known exposure to a specific STI we take this into consideration for testing.
