Choosing and Scheduling Classes
Once you have been admitted to LSU and have a MyLSU account, you will be able to register for courses on the date your host coordinator gives you. Course registration usually begins at the end of March (for fall enrollment) and end of October (for spring enrollment).
If you don't have an LSU account, you can view the list of courses offered at LSU in the schedule booklet by entering the appropriate semester and department. You can also view a list of course descriptions in the LSU General Catalog under the Course Descriptions section.
The registrar's Scheduling and Registration Instructions booklet provides important dates and instructions for completing registration, paying fees, wait-listing, parking, dining, and more.
Once you have set up your MyLSU account, you will be able to register for courses on the date the International Exchange Coordinator gives you. To schedule classes on MyLSU:
- Click Registration Services in the left panel.
- Click Schedule Request.
- Select the semester you are scheduling for, and then add the course number and section.
You can add or drop courses until about the first week of classes. However, you should register for courses as soon as possible because courses fill up quickly.
For courses that have prerequisites, the online registration system does not recognize whether you meet the prerequisite since LSU does not have records of your grades and courses taken at your home university. Therefore, the system will not allow you to register in courses with prerequisites. In this case, email your host coordinator the course number, name, and section that you would like to take, and they will assist you.
If you are an Engineering or Art and Design student, you will need to participate in an advising session with the department prior to registering for courses. In this case, please email your host coordinator the course number, name, and section that you would like to take, and they will assist you with course registration.
