Title IX

Title IX, of the Education Amendments of 1972, is a civil rights law that protects individuals from all forms of harassment and discrimination based on sex and gender in all of LSU’s educational programs or activities. While many people think Title IX only applies to athletics, Title IX actually prohibits a wide range of sex and gender-based harassment and discrimination, including, but not limited to:

  • sexual assault
  • sexual harassment
  • dating and interpersonal violence
  • domestic violence
  • stalking
  • retaliation.

The Title IX Coordinator’s Office within the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX, oversees all of LSU’s compliance with Title IX, including any alleged violations of Title IX.
